The origin of the pepper plant in Central and South America. The genus probably developed in the area of today’s southern Brazil to Bolivia. The individual species were spread by birds to Central America. The different types of peppers used to make the mildly sweet or hot powder all belong to the Capsicum powder type. Powdered powder is mostly produced in Hungary, but also in Spain and Brazil. At the end of the 16th century, the pepper plant reached Hungary and was used there as an ornamental plant. The Spanish paprika from La Vera is a specialty, the paprika is hand-picked, this paprika gets its smoky aroma from the roasting of the whole fruit over oak fire. Picante describes its sharp and piquant and very spicy after smoky aroma. Because of its taste, this paprika is particularly suitable for preparing stews, soups, sauces, potato dishes and omelettes. Paprika de La Vera picante is a typical ingredient in Spanish chorizo salami.Spain
