Description

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Meteku Shento

The variety of species and varieties of local coffee bushes is so great that Ethiopian coffee has a unique taste. It is celebrated for its unusually delicate notes of flowers, herbs, bergamot, jasmine and citrus.

Most traditional Ethiopia Heriloom coffee grows in wild forests, which makes harvesting quite difficult. A total of 15 million people are employed in the coffee production sector in Ethiopia. Inhabitants.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee, it is from here that coffee spread throughout the world. Legend has it that once the Ethiopian shepherd Kaldi noticed that when his goats ate the red berries from the unknown bushes, they remained very active and disobedient, so Kaldi himself tried these berries and was convinced of the effects of these berries.

The variety of varieties of local coffee trees is very wide, most of them grow in wild forests, therefore coffee harvesting is only possible by hand. The productivity of Ethiopian trees is quite low – around 600 kg from 1 hectare, compared to Brazil, where 1600 kg are harvested from 1 hectare. Ethiopian coffee has a fairly high density, it is not calibrated according to the size of the coffee beans, so roasting Ethiopian coffee requires a lot of skill from the roaster.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of the coffee tree and the cradle of coffee culture. Ethiopian coffee varieties are rarely certified as organic, but they are. Up to one-third of Ethiopia’s coffee is grown wild or near-wild in the country’s highland forests, while the rest is usually grown on small plantations where no artificial fertilizers are used.
